Lesson 2: Adverbs of Manner & Linking Words
Welcome back! In my intermediate classes, I always tell my students that knowing a lot of words is great, but knowing how to connect them is what makes you truly fluent. Today, we will learn Adverbs of Manner to describe exactly how actions are performed, and Linking Words to connect your sentences professionally. We will also correct a very common grammar mistake regarding where to place adverbs in a sentence. Vocabulary List: Carefully (Adverb) - In a way that deliberately avoids harm or errors. Fluently (Adverb) - In a smooth, clear, and easy way. Politely (Adverb) - In a respectful and considerate manner. However (Linking Word) - Used to introduce a statement that contrasts with something that has just been said. Therefore (Linking Word) - For that reason; consequently. Although (Linking Word) - In spite of the fact that; even though. Common Mistake: Adverb Placement Never put an adverb between a verb and its direct object!
