When we tell someone what another person asked us to do, we use Reported Speech without using their exact words!

Teacher, do we need to change the tense of the second verb? Like "to went" instead of "to go"?

Hi Nita! No, that's the beauty of this structure! Because we use "to", the verb that follows MUST be the base infinitive form. So it is always "to go", "to eat", "to sleep". The only verb that changes tense is the reporting verb (tell -> told). 🎓

This is a HUGE trap, Vireak! 🛑 "Suggest" does NOT follow the Object + Infinitive rule. You cannot use an object pronoun directly after it. You have to say "He suggested THAT I go" or "He suggested going". Stick to tell, ask, advise, and warn for this rule! 💡
