Reported Questions
When we report a question, we change the tense backwards and we do not use a question mark. The word order changes to a normal sentence.

Do not keep the question word order! Drop do/does/did and put the subject before the verb.

Recent Questions
They both mean the exact same thing in reported questions! "If" is more common in spoken English, and "whether" sounds a bit more formal for writing. ✍️
If someone asks "Where is the bathroom?", how do I report it?
You would say: "He asked where the bathroom was." Remember to move the verb "was" to the end! 🚻
Do we always have to change the tense to the past?
Usually yes, because we are reporting something that happened in the past ("She asked..."). However, if the information is still currently true, you don't always have to change it. But backshifting is the safest rule for B2 level! 📚
Is it better to use 'if' or 'whether'?
