Module 1: Advanced Decoding & Word Recognition Welcome to your A2 reading framework. I am Teacher Sopheak. At this elementary stage, we move beyond simple three-letter words to decode the complex patterns that make up the majority of English text. Core Reading Pillars Covered: Consonant Digraphs: Two letters making one sound (e.g., SH, CH, TH). The Magic 'E': Understanding how a silent 'E' changes a short vowel into a long vowel (e.g., Tap vs. Tape). Advanced Sight Words: Recognizing high-frequency words with silent letters (e.g., Would, Could, Should). Syllable Chunking: Breaking longer words into manageable pieces (e.g., Bas-ket, Rab-bit). Linguistic Trap: The Silent 'L' A frequent error for second-language learners is attempting to pronounce the 'L' in words like 'would' and 'should'.
