Past Continuous vs. Past Simple Use the Past Continuous for the long background action. Use the Past Simple for the short interrupting action. Grammar Examples: Was walking / Saw - កំពុងដើរ / បានឃើញ (I was walking when I saw my friend.) Were eating / Started - កំពុងញ៉ាំ / បានចាប់ផ្តើម (We were eating when it started to rain.)
