Welcome to Grammar B1! To make your English sound more natural and engaging, native speakers frequently use figurative language. A simile compares two things using 'as' or 'like'. An idiom is a fixed phrase where the meaning is completely different from the individual words. In this lesson, we will look at how to use these effectively in everyday situations. Vocabulary List: As busy as a bee (Simile) - To be moving around quickly and doing many tasks; extremely busy. As clear as day (Simile) - Extremely obvious; very easy to understand or see. A piece of cake (Idiom) - Something that is very easy to do. Under the weather (Idiom) - Feeling slightly ill or unwell. Break the ice (Idiom) - To do or say something to relieve tension or get conversation going in a new situation. Professional Tip Idioms cannot be translated word-for-word.
