Lesson 2: Present Perfect vs. Past Simple
Welcome to B1 Grammar! Here in Siem Reap, I often hear guides and hotel staff sharing their stories with guests. Sometimes they say, "I lived here for 5 years," when they actually mean, "I have lived here for 5 years." Knowing when an action is completely finished (Past Simple) and when it continues or affects the present (Present Perfect) changes your whole story. Today we will master the difference. Key Structures: Have visited (Present Perfect) - Used to talk about a life experience up to now. The exact time is not important. Visited (Past Simple) - A finished action at a specific time.
