Welcome to B1 Intermediate! I am Teacher Sopheak. When my students talk to tourists in Siem Reap, they sometimes translate their verbs directly from Khmer. In English, certain words just sound right together—we call these collocations.
Today, we will learn which verbs to pair with common nouns so you sound completely natural when speaking.

Example: The hotel receptionist made a mistake with our room booking.

ជិះឡានក្រុង / ចាប់ឡានក្រុង
ទៅដល់ចំណតទាន់ពេល ដើម្បីឡើងជិះឡានក្រុង។
Example: We need to leave the hotel now if we want to catch a bus to Phnom Penh.
ឧទាហរណ៍៖ យើងត្រូវចាកចេញពីសណ្ឋាគារឥឡូវនេះ ប្រសិនបើយើងចង់ទាន់ឡានក្រុងទៅភ្នំពេញ។

warning Watch Out: Make vs. Do
In Khmer, "tveu" (ធ្វើ) is used for both words!
នៅក្នុងភាសាខ្មែរ យើងប្រើពាក្យ "ធ្វើ" សម្រាប់សកម្មភាពទាំងពីរនេះ។ ប៉ុន្តែក្នុងភាសាអង់គ្លេស គេប្រើវាខុសគ្នា។
