Lesson 1: Advanced Affixes, Roots & Conversion
Welcome to B2 Upper Intermediate! As your vocabulary grows, memorizing individual words is no longer enough. Learning word roots and affixes is like getting a master key to the English language. Today, we look at how adding prefixes and suffixes—or changing a noun into a verb (conversion)—can instantly multiply your vocabulary. Vocabulary List: Revitalize (Verb) - To imbue something with new life and vitality. Unbelievable (Adjective) - Not able to be believed; extraordinary. Overtourism (Noun) - Excessive numbers of visitors to a destination. Host (Verb via Conversion) - To organize an event and provide the space. Common Mistake: Fake Conversions A common trap is trying to convert every noun into a verb. Always verify if a conversion is natural in English before using it in professional writing.
