The Grammar Lab: Present Simple

Lesson 06: Action Verbs
When do we use it?

We use the Present Simple for Facts and Habits (things we do every day).

🔹 Habits: I drink coffee every morning. (ទម្លាប់)
🔹 Facts: The sun rises in the East. (ការពិត)
The "S" Rule He/She/It
For He, She, It (3rd Person Singular), you must add -s or -es to the verb.
I / You / We / They work
He / She / It works
កុំភ្លេចថែម S សម្រាប់គាត់/នាង
Negative Don't / Doesn't
To say "No", use a helper verb. Remember: After Doesn't, the main verb loses the 's'.
I / You / We don't work
He / She doesn't work
Doesn't + Verb (No S)
Questions Do / Does
Put the helper verb at the start.
Do you work? តើអ្នក...?
Does she work? តើនាង...?
Spelling ES / IES
If verb ends in -o, -ch, -sh, -x add -es.
If verb ends in consonant+y, change to -ies.
