Business Idioms
Lesson Goal: Learn how to understand and use common English idioms during business meetings.
What is an Idiom?
An idiom is a phrase where the words together have a completely different meaning than the individual words by themselves.
For example, if your boss says, "Let's get the ball rolling," they are not talking about sports or a physical ball! They are using a common business idiom that means, "Let's start the project."
Native speakers use idioms constantly in the workplace. If you don't understand them, you might get very confused during meetings!
Go to the next card to learn 4 essential business idioms, then listen to the meeting in the Listen tab to hear them in action!
