Common Phrasal Verbs

Using natural expressions in daily conversation.

Lesson Goal: Learn to understand and use multi-word verbs that native speakers use all the time.

What is a Phrasal Verb?

In English, a Phrasal Verb is a phrase that combines a normal verb with a preposition or adverb (like up, out, or off).

The tricky part is that when you combine them, the meaning completely changes! For example, you know what "give" means, and you know what "up" means. But if you combine them to say "Give up", it suddenly means to quit or stop trying!

Native speakers use these constantly in casual conversation. Instead of saying "I am depleted of water," they will simply say "I have run out of water."
