Renting an Apartment

Lesson Goal: Learn how to listen carefully for important terms and conditions when talking to a landlord.

Listening for Conditions

Renting a place to live involves many rules and costs. When you speak to a landlord, you must listen carefully to understand what is included in the price, and what is extra.

Pay special attention when the speaker uses words like "separate", "require", or "deposit". These words indicate a condition or an extra cost that you must be prepared for!

Go to the next card to learn the housing vocabulary, then listen to the conversation between the tenant and landlord in the Listen tab!
