Calling a Plumber
Handling household emergencies over the phone.
Lesson Goal:
Learn how to describe an emergency clearly and listen for arrival times and costs.
Staying Calm in an Emergency
When something breaks in your house, like a water pipe or electricity, you need to call a professional. Over the phone, it is very important to describe the problem clearly.
You also need to use your listening skills to understand the professional's instructions. They might tell you to turn something off before they arrive. Finally, always listen for numbers: How long will they take to arrive, and how much will it cost?
