Understanding Text Speak
When people send text messages or chat on apps like Telegram, they don't usually write like a textbook. Texting is fast and informal.
Native speakers often use abbreviations (like "IDK" instead of "I don't know"). They also frequently drop pronouns. Instead of saying, "Are you coming tonight?", someone might just text, "Coming tonight?".
Understanding this "slang" is important for daily communication, making plans, and chatting with friends. Go to the next tab to learn the most common texting vocabulary, then read the chat logs in the Practice tab!
