Lesson 03: Café Interface

☕ Digital Life
Ordering
Lesson Goal: Practice navigating digital menus, reading modern receipts, and checking loyalty apps.

Navigating Digital Menus

When you walk into a modern cafe or restaurant, you might not talk to a person right away. Many businesses now use self-checkout tablets or mobile apps for ordering.

To use these screens effectively, you need to use a skill called scanning. You don't need to read every single word on the screen. Instead, your eyes should jump to categories, prices, and ingredients. For example, if you want a milk-free drink, you can scan the menu items specifically looking for warnings like "Contains Dairy" or options like "Oat Milk".

Go to the next tab to learn the vocabulary, then test your scanning skills in the Practice tab!
