Model Text: My Family
Read this short text about Sothea's family. Notice the words in bold.
My name is Sothea. I have a small family.
I have one brother and one sister. My brother is 20 years old. He is a student.
My sister is 15. She is also a student.
My father is a doctor and my mother is a teacher. They are very kind.
Key Structures for Writing
We use two simple structures to talk about family.
Structure 1: To Show Possession
Use "I have" to say *who* is in your family.
"I have one brother."
"I have two sisters."
"I do not have a pet."
Structure 2: To Describe People
Use "He / She / They are" to describe them.
"He is tall."
"She is a teacher."
"They are kind."
