Vocabulary: Strategies for Vocabulary Learning & Retention (C1) - Lesson 9: Developing Autonomous Learning Habits for Continuous & Lifelong Vocabulary Expansion

Vocabulary Strategy C1
🧭

Lifelong Learner

ទម្លាប់នៃការរៀនពាក្យដោយស្វ័យភាព

True fluency isn't achieved in a classroom. It is built through consistent, autonomous daily habits.

ភាពស្ទាត់ជំនាញពិតប្រាកដមិនមែនកើតឡើងតែក្នុងថ្នាក់រៀនទេ តែតាមរយៈទម្លាប់សិក្សាដោយខ្លួនឯងជារៀងរាល់ថ្ងៃ។
🏛️

The Core Pillars 🏛️

សសរស្តម្ភសំខាន់ៗទាំង ៣
Spaced Repetition (SRS) Reviewing words at increasing intervals to move them to long-term memory. ការរំលឹកពាក្យទុកចន្លោះពេល
Contextual Inference Guessing meaning intelligently from the surrounding text. ការស្មានន័យតាមបរិបទ
Active Output Forcing yourself to deploy new words in writing or speech. ការបញ្ចេញប្រើប្រាស់ជាក់ស្តែង
📚

Reading Widely 📚

អានឲ្យបានទូលំទូលាយ
Niche Blogs Reading about specific, hyper-focused topics of interest. អត្ថបទតាមចំណាប់អារម្មណ៍ជាក់លាក់
Literary Fiction Exposing yourself to diverse stylistic choices and rich prose. អក្សរសិល្ប៍ / ប្រលោមលោក
Broadsheets Reading high-quality, formal journalism (e.g., The Guardian). កាសែតផ្លូវការកម្រិតខ្ពស់
📓

Lexical Journaling 📓

ការកត់ត្រាពាក្យកម្រិត C1

A C1 learner does not just write "Word = Translation". You must record the ecosystem of the word.

mitigate
Collocations: mitigate the impact, mitigate the risk
Register: Formal / Academic
My Sentence: "I drink green tea to mitigate my stress after work."
The Illusion Trap! ⚠️

"Passive Consumption"

(ការគិតថាខ្លួនចេះ ដោយសារស្តាប់ឬអានយល់ តែការពិតមិនអាចយកមកប្រើបាន)
The Trap:
Watching Netflix with subtitles and thinking you are "learning".
(ស្តាប់យល់ តែមិនបញ្ចេញសកម្មភាព)
The Solution:
You must transition from Passive Recognition to Active Deployment. Force yourself to WRITE or SPEAK the words you hear.

The Illusion Trap
The "Passive Consumption Trap" means you can understand a word, but you cannot ___ it.
(អ្នកអានយល់ តែអ្នកមិនអាច...)

Teacher, I understand big words when I read them in articles, but I go completely blank when I try to speak. How do I fix this?

This is the classic Passive vs. Active gap, Dara! To fix it, try the 'Lexical Journaling' method. Instead of just reading the word, write down 3 sentences about YOUR life using the new word. Then, literally talk to yourself in the mirror using those sentences. You have to train your mouth muscles, not just your eyes! 🗣️🧠
