Speaking: Vocabulary for Speaking A1 - Lesson 3: Everyday Objects & Common Verbs
Lesson 3: Objects and Verbs Welcome to your vocabulary lesson! I am your teacher, លោកគ្រូ សុភ័ក្ត. Every day, we interact with dozens of items around our homes, from the cups we use to drink our morning coffee to the beds we sleep on at night. Learning to naturally pair these nouns with their active verbs will immediately boost your spoken confidence. Everyday Object Pairs: Cup → Drink (កែវ → ផឹក) Plate → Eat (ចាន → ញ៉ាំ) Knife → Cut (កាំបិត → កាត់) Spoon → Stir (ស្លាបព្រា → កូរ) Bed → Sleep (គ្រែ → គេង) Chair → Sit (កៅអី → អង្គុយ) Book → Read (សៀវភៅ → អាន) Pen → Write (ប៊ិច → សរសេរ) Phone → Call (ទូរស័ព្ទ → តេ) Keys → Lock (សោ → ចាក់សោ) Bag → Carry (កាបូប → ស្ពាយ) Clothes → Wear (សម្លៀកបំពាក់ → ពាក់) The Cultural Soup Trap! In Khmer, we often use the verb drink for soup. In English, because soup contains meat, vegetables, and is consumed with a spoon, you must always say eat soup.
