A Conversation About Personal Details
After you introduce yourself, a conversation often continues with questions about personal details. Let's see how Dara and Sophea continue their conversation.
Dara: Sophea, how old are you?1
Sophea: I'm twenty years old.2 And you?
Dara: I'm twenty-two.
Sophea: And where are you from?3 I know you live in Siem Reap, but are you from here?
Dara: No, I'm not. I'm from4 Kampot, but my family5 lives here now.
Sophea: Oh, that's nice! Have you got any6 brothers7 or sisters8?
Dara: Yes, I've got9 one brother.

Pronunciation & Intonation
Listen carefully to the music of these questions.
- Linking Sounds: "years old" often links together in speech. It sounds like "year-zold". Listen: "I'm twenty year-zold."
- Falling Intonation (↘): for "Wh-" questions. -> "How old are you? ↘" and "Where are you from? ↘"
- Rising Intonation (↗): for "Yes/No" questions. -> "Have you got any brothers or sisters? ↗"
Giving More Detail
To make the conversation more interesting, you can add a little more information to your answers. This is great for fluency!
- Instead of just: "I'm from Kampot."
Try adding more detail: "I'm from Kampot, but I live in Siem Reap now." - Instead of just: "Yes, I've got one brother."
Try adding more detail: "Yes, I've got one brother. His name is Vuthy."
