Hello Cambodian Learners!

When we talk or write, we use small words to connect our ideas. These are like bridges between sentences or parts of sentences! In English, words like "and," "but," "so," and "because" are important connectors. Understanding them helps you follow the flow of ideas when you read. You might use these to talk about your day in Battambang: "It was sunny, and I played outside. I wanted to swim, but the water was cold."

Meet the Connectors!

Click on each example sentence to hear it.

1. and (adds information)

"And" joins two similar ideas or things.

2. but (shows a difference)

The cat is small, but the dog is big.

"But" shows a contrast or something different.

3. so (shows a result)

It was raining, so I took an umbrella.

"So" tells us the result or what happened because of something.
