Listening: Listening for Specific Information A1 - Lesson 3: Listening for Key Words in Short Instructions

Listening A1 - Instructions
Listening A1

Follow Instructions

Lesson Goals

  • Listen for the Verb (the action word).
  • Understand classroom commands (Open, Close, Sit).
  • Understand basic directions (Left, Right, Stop).

Instructions tell you what to do. In English, instructions are usually short and start with a Verb.

Example: "Open your book." (Don't worry about "your book" yet, just listen for "Open"!).

1. Classroom Commands

These are words you hear in school.

📖 Open / Close
🪑 Sit / Stand
👂 Listen
✍️ Write

2. Basic Directions

Listen for these words when you are moving.

Tip: Ignore the Politeness

Sometimes people say: "Could you please open the door?"
