Reading Between the Lines

At the B2 level, authors don't tell you everything directly. You must use clues to find the implied meaning.

Look for extreme adjectives combined with a bad situation! For example, saying "Fantastic!" right after failing a test. The opposite context is your biggest clue. psychology

Usually not in formal writing or business! It can sound rude. But it is very common in casual speech, novels, and with friends. theater_comedy

A lie tries to trick you into believing something false. Sarcasm expects you to KNOW the truth, so you understand the joke or the criticism. lightbulb
