Don't panic! You don't need to know every single word to understand the Main Idea. Focus on the words you do know. Often, the sentences around the difficult word will give you clues (context clues) about what it means! search_insights
How do I know if a sentence is the Main Idea or just a Detail?
Think of the Table! If the sentence is a specific number (like "2 billion cups") or a specific name (like "Brazil"), it's a Detail (a leg). If the sentence is broad and covers the whole topic (like "Coffee is popular"), it's the Main Idea (the tabletop)! chair
