Hi Sovan! English has a long history, and pronunciation changed over hundreds of years, but the spelling stayed the same! That is exactly why we call them "Rule Breakers" and have to memorize them as Sight Words. photo_camera

How many sight words do I need to know?

Good question! The top 100 sight words make up about 50 percent of everything you will read in English. If you memorize those 100 words, you can read our tour schedules much faster, which helps us support and train more local youths! rocket_launch

What is the difference between phonics and sight words?

Phonics is when you sound out letters slowly (C-A-T = Cat). Sight Words are words you just look at and know instantly like a picture, without sounding them out (like "the"). You need both to be a great guide! menu_book
