Lesson 7: Personal Pronouns (we, they)
So far, we have learned pronouns for one person or thing (I, you, he, she, it). Today, we will learn the pronouns for talking about a group1 of people: we and they.
The Pronoun 'We'
We use we when we talk about a group that includes you, the speaker. A simple way to think about it is: "Other people + I = We".
- My family2 and I live in Kampot. We love our city.
- My friends and I are students. We go to school together.
- We are hungry. Let's eat!
The Pronoun 'They'
We use they when we talk about a group of other people, animals, or things that does not include you.
- Look at the tourists3. They are taking photos of the river.
- My parents4 are at the market. They are buying fruit.
- My neighbors5 have two dogs. They are very playful.
