Lesson 7: Personal Pronouns (we, they)

           

                So far, we have learned pronouns for one person or thing (I, you, he, she, it). Today, we will learn the pronouns for talking about a group¹ of people: we and they.            

                        

The Pronoun 'We'

           

We use we when we talk about a group that includes you, the speaker. A simple way to think about it is: "Other people + I = We".

           

               
• My family² and I live in Kampot. We love our city.
               
• My friends and I are students. We go to school together.
               
• We are hungry. Let's eat!
           

           

The Pronoun 'They'

           

We use they when we talk about a group of other people, animals, or things that does not include you.

           

               
• Look at the tourists³. They are taking photos of the river.
               
• My parents⁴ are at the market. They are buying fruit.
               
• My neighbors⁵ have two dogs. They are very playful.
