Lesson 5: Personal Pronouns (I, you)
Sometimes in English, we use small words to take the place of nouns. These special words are called pronouns1. They make our sentences shorter and easier to say.
Today, we will learn the two most important personal2 pronouns: I and you.
The Pronoun 'I'
We use I when we talk about myself3. The word 'I' is always a capital letter.
- I am a student in Kampot.
- I like to drink coconut water.
- My name is Vanna, and I am from Cambodia.
The Pronoun 'You'
We use you when we are talking to another person or a group of people.
- You are my friend.
- Hello, Srey Leak, how are you today?
- Excuse me, do you know what time it is?
