Grammar: ✨ Grammar F: 🧩 Parts of Speech - Basics (A1) - Lesson 6: Personal Pronouns (Subject: he, she, it)

Hello! In our last lesson, we learned about the pronouns I (for yourself) and you (for the person you are talking to).

Today, we will learn three more important subject pronouns: he, she, and it. These help us talk about other people and things without repeating their names.

What are "He", "She", and "It"?

He

We use he when we are talking about one boy or one man.

My brother is Tom. He is tall.

This is Mr. Smith. He is a teacher.

She

We use she when we are talking about one girl or one woman.

My sister is Lisa. She likes to read.

This is Mrs. Jones. She is kind.

It

We use it when we are talking about one animal or one thing (not a person).

The cat is black. It is sleeping.

This is a book. It is new.

The car is red. It is fast.

Remember, these pronouns (he, she, it) are used for singular nouns – meaning only one!

Let's Practice! ✨

Activity 1: Choose the Correct Pronoun (He, She, or It)

Read about the person or thing. Click the correct pronoun.

1. Talking about a boy named David.

2. Talking about a flower.

3. Talking about a woman named Sarah.

4. Talking about a dog.

Activity 2: Fill in the Blank with He, She, or It

Read the sentences. Type "He", "She", or "It" in the blank.

1. My father is a doctor. works at a hospital.
2. This is my new bag. is blue.
3. My teacher is Miss Mary. is very nice.

💡 Quick Tip:

  • He = for one male person (boy, man, father, Tom).
  • She = for one female person (girl, woman, mother, Sarah).
  • It = for one animal (dog, cat, bird) or one thing (book, car, house).

Great Job!

Now you know five subject pronouns: I, you, he, she, it.

These words help make your English sound natural and clear. Keep practicing!
