Must + base verb Very sure it is true (99%). You have strong evidence. The bridge is closed. There must be a traffic jam ahead.
Might / May / Could Possible, but you aren't sure (50%). It's a guess. The minivan isn't here. It might be delayed by rain.
Can't + base verb Very sure it is NOT true (99%). It is impossible based on facts. Rithy can't be at home. His cafe is already open!

Sophea is a passionate artist and teacher living in the charming city of Battambang. Most mornings, she enjoys a peaceful commute to the art school, either riding her bicycle along the Sangker River or catching a local shared minivan. However, this Tuesday morning is completely different. As she waits at the bustling bus stop, she notices a massive traffic jam stretching all the way to the old colonial quarter.

"The bridge must be closed," Sophea mutters to herself, checking her watch anxiously. "Or there might be a festival procession. It can't be a normal delay." She knows that navigating public transport issues in a growing city can be unpredictable. After twenty minutes of waiting, she decides to call her good friend Rithy, who owns a popular cafe near Phsar Nat, the central market.

"Rithy, I am stuck in the worst rush hour traffic I have ever seen!" Sophea exclaims over the phone. "The minivan hasn't even arrived. It must have broken down on the way, or maybe the route is blocked."

"That sounds terrible," Rithy replies, wiping down a table in his empty cafe. "The downtown area is heavily overcrowded today. The municipal workers are repairing the main road. The delay could last for hours. Why don't you take a moto-taxi? The fare might be a bit higher, but they can squeeze through the cars."

Sophea watches a few pedestrians walking faster than the stalled vehicles. "I might have to do that, but finding one right now could be tricky," she sighs. "I just hope my students aren't waiting outside the classroom. They must be wondering where I am." By understanding the daily challenges of city commutes, Sophea learns to adapt, realizing that sometimes taking a detour is just part of the journey in Battambang.

Reading Comprehension

2. According to Rithy, what is the main cause of the overcrowded downtown area?

Sophea I finally made it! That commute was a nightmare.
Rithy You must be exhausted! Sit down. I'll get you an iced coffee.
Sophea Thank you. The traffic jam was terrible. A bus broke down near the market.
Rithy That explains it. The driver must have been so stressed. The passengers couldn't go anywhere.
Sophea Exactly. The bus was totally overcrowded too. I paid a high fare for a moto-taxi just to escape it.
Rithy Well, the mechanic might fix it soon, but the roads are still blocked. You can't be eager to go back out there.
Sophea I'm not! I might stay here and sketch until the rush hour ends.
