Phaly works at an elephant sanctuary in Mondulkiri. Today, she is buying supplies from Rith, a local coffee farmer. 3. Reading: A Busy Day at the Sanctuary
For the staff's lunch, she needs a large bag of rice and a can of beans. She cooks the rice and beans in the sanctuary kitchen.
Rith is a coffee farmer in the green mountains of Mondulkiri. He often brings extra supplies to Phaly in his truck. Today, he gives her a sweet jar of honey from his own farm. He also brings a carton of milk and a packet of sugar for the kitchen.
"Do you have anything for me to drink?" Phaly asks with a tired smile.
"Yes, I have a cold bottle of water and a hot cup of coffee for you," Rith says.
Phaly is very happy. She knows that we cannot count water or coffee, but we can count bottles and cups! Thanks to Rith, the sanctuary has all the food and drinks it needs for a very busy day.
