3. Reading: Context in Koh Kong
Makara is an eco-ranger in beautiful Koh Kong, Cambodia. Yesterday, he walked in the quiet mangrove forest and saw many colourful birds. He studied Biology and Ecology at university five years ago, so he knows a lot about local nature and trees.
His friend Ratanak is a fisher on the coast. Ratanak went to the sea early yesterday morning in his small boat. He caught a big crab and some fish. Ratanak studied Geography at university, so he learned a lot about the ocean and the weather. He also studied Mathematics to help with his fishing business.
At night, Makara and Ratanak sat by the water. They ate dinner and talked about their university days. Ratanak really liked History because he loved old stories about Cambodia. However, Makara loved Chemistry because he liked doing experiments with water. They remembered their favourite teachers and the difficult tests. They both enjoyed their university time, but they love their life in Koh Kong now.
