Module 5: Understanding Text Structure Welcome to your elementary reading track. I am Teacher Sopheak. Moving from A1 to A2 means learning to read whole paragraphs instead of just isolated sentences. To do this, you must understand how a paragraph is built. Core Reading Pillars Covered: Topic Sentences: Identifying the main idea, which usually appears at the very beginning of a paragraph. Pronoun Referencing: Understanding who or what words like 'he', 'she', 'it', and 'they' are replacing. Basic Connectors: Decoding the logical glue between ideas using words like 'and', 'but', 'because', and 'so'. Linguistic Trap: The "They" Object Trap Many learners assume the pronoun "they" only refers to a group of people. In English, "they" is also the plural pronoun for objects and animals.
