Conjunctions are the "glue" that connects our ideas together. Today, we'll learn how to use words like and, but, and because to make your English flow naturally and tell better stories.

warning Common Mistake
In Khmer, we sometimes use two connecting words together (like translating "ពីព្រោះ... ដូច្នេះ..."). In English, you only need ONE! Don't say: Because I am sick, so I sleep.
Say: Because I am sick, I sleep. OR I am sick, so I sleep.
កំហុសទូទៅ៖ នៅក្នុងភាសាខ្មែរ យើងជួនកាលប្រើពាក្យភ្ជាប់ពីរជាមួយគ្នា (ឧទាហរណ៍៖ "ពីព្រោះខ្ញុំឈឺ ដូច្នេះខ្ញុំគេង")។ ក្នុងភាសាអង់គ្លេស អ្នកត្រូវការតែមួយប៉ុណ្ណោះ! កុំប្រើ "because" និង "so" ក្នុងប្រយោគតែមួយ។

Example: The weather was very hot, so we bought cold sugarcane juice.
