Lesson 1: Basic Sentence Order & Statements
Welcome! When English learners first start writing or speaking, they often get confused about where to put words. The golden rule of English sentences is S-V-O (Subject + Verb + Object). The Subject is who does the action, the Verb is the action itself, and the Object is what receives the action. Let's look at the basic building blocks of a perfect statement. Vocabulary List (Building Blocks): Farmer (Subject) - A person who owns or manages a farm. Grow (Verb) - To cultivate plants. Rice (Object) - A major food staple. It receives the action. Guide (Subject) - A person who leads a tour. Explain (Verb) - To make an idea clear to someone. Temple (Object) - A religious building. It receives the action. Common Mistake: Dropping the Subject In casual conversation in some languages, people drop the subject if everyone knows who they are talking about.
