The Grammar Lab: Forming Questions

Lesson 06: Present Simple (Do/Does)
The Formula

In English, we cannot simply change the tone to ask a question. We must use a "Helper Verb" at the start.

DO / DOES + Subject + Main Verb?

ចំណាំ៖ "Do/Does" here has no meaning, it just signals a question. (តើ...មែនទេ?)

Use "Do" I / You / We / They
Use Do for plural subjects and "I/You".
Do you like pizza?
Do we have time?
Do they speak English?
Use "Does" He / She / It
Use Does for singular subjects (3rd person).
Does he play football?
Does she work here?
Does it rain often?
⚠️ The S-Drop Rule: When you use "Does", the main verb loses the 's'.
Does he eat? (NOT Eats)
Wh- Questions More Info
