Telling the Time
Listening for specific times and schedules.
Lesson Goal: Learn how to hear and understand time expressions like "o'clock", "half past", and "quarter to".
How Native Speakers Tell Time
When asking for the time, you might expect people to say numbers exactly as they are written (like "three fifteen" or "four forty-five"). However, native English speakers often use fractions of an hour.
If a train leaves at 3:30, they might say it leaves at "half past three." If a meeting is at 4:45, they might say it is at "quarter to five."
