Dates & Birthdays
Practice hearing months and ordinal numbers.
Listening for Dates
When people talk about birthdays, holidays, or appointments, they use a specific format for numbers. In English, we usually say the month first, followed by an ordinal number (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.).
For example, we say "October second," not "October two." It is very important to listen carefully to the endings of the numbers to make sure you hear the date correctly!
Go to the next card to review some common date vocabulary, then listen to the conversation in the Listen tab!
Lesson Goal: Learn to recognize and understand specific dates when listening to a conversation.
