Chapter 1: The Busy Market

It was a bright Saturday morning. Vibol woke up early because he was going to Phsar Thmey (Central Market) with his mother. He loved the market because it was always loud, colorful, and crowded.

When they arrived, people were shouting, selling vegetables, fresh fish, and clothes. Vibol held his mother's hand tightly so he wouldn't get lost. They walked past a toy stall.

Vibol saw a shiny red car. "Mom, can I have that toy?" he asked. His mother shook her head. "No, Vibol. Today we only have money for food." Vibol felt sad, but he understood.

Chapter 2: A Tiny Discovery

While his mother was buying fruit, Vibol looked down at the ground behind a large basket. He saw something small and grey. It was fuzzy and shaking.

It was a tiny kitten, all alone! It looked hungry and scared. "Meow," it cried softly. Vibol picked it up very gently.

He ran to his mother. "Look what I found! Can we keep it?" he asked. His mother looked at the cute kitten and smiled. "Well," she said, "Maybe we need food and a new friend today." Vibol was so happy he began to whisper to his new pet, "I will call you Lucky."
