Listening for Numbers
When shopping, understanding prices quickly is essential. Native speakers often say prices in a fast, shortened way.
For example, instead of saying "Forty-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents," a cashier might just say "Forty-nine ninety-nine."
When listening, focus on catching the first number (the dollars) and the second number (the cents). Don't worry if they drop the words "dollars" or "cents"—the structure is always the same!
