Why We Sleep

Lesson Goal: Learn how to listen to academic or scientific audio and identify specific biological terms and processes.

Listening to Interviews

When listening to podcasts, news reports, or interviews with experts, you will often hear specialized vocabulary. You do not need to understand every scientific word to get the main idea!

Usually, the Host (the person asking questions) will guide the conversation, and the Expert will explain the concepts. Listen carefully for definitions—experts often introduce a big word (like insomnia) and immediately explain what it means in the next sentence.

Go to the next card to learn the B2 science vocabulary, then listen to the interview between the Host and the Scientist in the Listen tab!
