Modern Education Systems

Lesson Goal: Learn how to listen for abstract concepts and educational changes in a formal conversation.

Listening for Concepts

When people discuss education or work, they often use words that describe ideas or methods rather than physical objects.

In this conversation, you will hear a parent and a teacher discussing how school has changed. Listen closely for how the teacher contrasts the "old way" (like simple memorization) with the "new way" (like critical thinking and hybrid learning).

Go to the next card to learn the academic vocabulary, then listen to the conversation between the Parent and Teacher in the Listen tab!
