Understanding environmental reports and global issues.
Listening to the News
Lesson Goal: Learn how to listen to formal news broadcasts and identify the main topic and key facts.
Listening to news reports is an excellent way to practice English. News anchors speak clearly and use formal, professional vocabulary.
When listening to a news story, don't worry if you don't understand every word. Instead, focus on finding the Main Idea. Ask yourself: Who is the story about? What happened? Why is it important? Listen carefully for formal vocabulary words that signal the topic.
Go to the next card to learn the environmental vocabulary, then listen to the news report in the Listen tab!
