Formal vs. Informal
Learn the difference between "Hey" and "Good Morning".
Who are you talking to?
In English, the words we use change depending on who we are talking to. This is the difference between Formal and Informal language.
Informal English is used with friends, family, and people you know very well. You might say "Hey", "What's up?", or "See ya."
Formal English is used with teachers, elders, bosses, or people you are meeting for the first time. It shows respect. You should say "Good morning", "How are you today?", or "Goodbye."
