Cooking Instructions
Following a step-by-step process.
Lesson Goal: Learn how to listen carefully for sequence words (First, Next, Then) and action verbs to follow a recipe.
Listening for Sequence
When someone is giving you instructions, like how to cook a meal or build a table, the order of the steps is very important.
Listen carefully for Sequence Words like First, Next, Then, and Finally. These words act like signals for your brain, telling you that a new step is starting. You should also listen for the specific Action Verbs (like chop, mix, or fry) that tell you exactly what to do in that step.
Go to the next tab to learn the cooking vocabulary, then listen to the chef's recipe in the Practice tab!
