Fast Food Order

Listening for specific choices and standard phrases.

Lesson Goal: Learn how to order a meal and understand common questions at a fast-food restaurant.

Listening for Keywords

When you order at a fast-food restaurant, the conversation usually follows a very specific pattern. The cashier has to ask you the same questions they ask everyone else!

They will usually ask what you want, what size you prefer, and whether you want to eat inside or take the food with you. Listen carefully for standard questions like "What can I get for you?" and "Is that for here or to go?"

Instead of trying to understand every single word the cashier says, focus your listening on your specific choices (like combo, large, and to go).

Go to the next tab to learn the basic vocabulary, then listen to the restaurant conversation in the Practice tab!
