How to Write About Future Plans
In English, when we talk about a plan or an intention for the future, we use the special phrase "be going to".
The Structure:
Examples:
- I am going to visit my family.
- She is going to cook dinner.
- They are going to play football.
Negative (No Plan):
- He is not going to watch TV.
- We are not going to study.
Model Text: "Sophea's Weekend Plans"
Read this story. Notice how "am going to" and "are going to" are used for plans.
My name is Sophea. This weekend, I have many plans.
On Saturday, I am going to visit my grandmother in the morning. Then, my friend and I are going to see a movie.
On Sunday, I am not going to go out. I am going to clean my room and do my homework.
