Teacher, why do we add '-es' to 'watch' (watches) but only '-s' to 'play' (plays)?

Excellent question, Piseth! If a verb ends in a 'ch', 'sh', 's', 'x', or 'z' sound, we add '-es' so it's easier to say. Try saying "watchs" out loud—it's hard! "Watches" is much smoother. Keep building those words! architecture
