"He was dropping all the facts, no cap."

Note: "No cap" (meaning: no lie/for real) establishes the speaker as part of a modern, youth-oriented in-group.

(At work): "I will execute the deliverables by EOD."

The "Cringe" Factor 😬

Linguistic Appropriation When an "out-group" member (like a corporation or an older generation) adopts in-group slang. The Overuse Trap

C1 learners often overcompensate by using too much slang to sound "native." True fluency is knowing that standard, natural English is always better than forced slang.

Rule of Thumb:

If you do not natively belong to the sociolinguistic group, observe rather than appropriate.
