Great question! Mixing languages is one type, but code-switching also means changing your "register." Speaking formally to your boss and then casually to your friend 5 minutes later is also code-switching! sync

It is not necessarily "bad," but it might cause a communication breakdown. Slang is often tied to specific generations. If you use Gen Z slang with someone much older, they might feel confused or excluded! group
