Do young people in English countries actually say "Rome wasn't built in a day"? It sounds old.

Yes, they do! But native speakers often shorten proverbs because everyone already knows the end. They might just sigh and say, "Well... Rome wasn't built in a day!" or just "When in Rome..." and leave the sentence unfinished! account_balance

Can I make my own proverbs if I translate them perfectly from Khmer to English?

Unfortunately, no. Proverbs are fixed expressions accepted by a specific culture over hundreds of years. If you translate a Khmer proverb word-for-word, an English speaker will probably just be confused. Always find the *English equivalent* instead! block

It is an Idiom! It just describes a situation (heavy rain). It does not give you any advice or life lesson. rainy
