Some words are "best friends". They sound natural to native speakers when used together.

If you use the wrong pair, people understand you, but it sounds weird!

Collocations គឺជាគូពាក្យដែលតែងតែប្រើភ្ជាប់គ្នាជានិច្ចតាមបែបធម្មជាតិ។ ការជ្រើសរើសពាក្យខុសធ្វើឲ្យភាសាស្តាប់ទៅមិនរលូន។

Both mean "ធ្វើ", but they attach to different nouns!

គុណនាម + នាម (Adjective + Noun)

Both mean "លឿន", but look at the natural pairs:

fast food អាហាររហ័ស (NOT quick food)

a quick glance ការក្រឡេកមើលមួយភ្លែត (NOT a fast glance)

a quick meal អាហារញ៉ាំលឿនៗតាមផ្លូវ
